Membership in the I.G.C.C. continues to grow at a steady pace. We now have more than 200 members, including 12 from Australia, 10 from Canada, two from New Zealand, two from Singapore and one from Japan. The I.G.C.C. T-Shirts and Sweatshirts, offered in the last Newsletter, proved to be very popular, and we will continue to have them available for members. I have had so many requests from new members for information about the origin of the 'Golliwogg', that I have decided to include an article about the 'History of the Golliwog' in this issue. I know, for many of you, that this story is 'old hat' - but for the sake of our newcoming members - please 'bear with us'! I must also thank all those members who have written or called with compliments on the I.G.C.C. Newsletter. Preparation of each Newsletter does entail a lot of hard work, which would be a lot more difficult if not for the help and support of my assistant editor, Terri Kovacs, and writing contributions from David Worland, Bill Boyd and Beth Savino - so I would like to pass on my thanks to them also. This, the fourth I.G.C.C. Newsletter, will reach you a little early (mid-July), as I will be away visiting California and New Mexico during the first part of August. I am very excited to announce that I will be able to bring the I.G.C.C. to Linda Mullins 'Teddy Bear, Doll and Antique Toy Show' on 10th & 11th August in San Diego. I will be bringing I.G.C.C. shirts and pins, and many artist and antique Gollies, never before seen 'in person' by West coast members! I would love to see you there! |
